I started my civilian law enforcement career in 1971, attending the New York City Police Academy and working for the NYS MTA PD. My last assignment was a foot beat in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
By 1981 I had moved to California. I continued my law enforcement career with the Los Angeles City Housing Police. Later, I joined the Los Angeles Port Police in San Pedro, California.
My first attempt to retire was in August 2001. Following the attacks on September 11, I was asked to come back to work the protective serves unit as sergeant at arms for the Board of Harbor Commissioners. I remained in that position until 2010 at which time I again tried to retire.
However, retirement was again short lived! By July 2011 I was back to work, this time for the Department of Defense 61st Security Forces at the Los Angeles Air Force Base. I retired again on January 7, 2017 (hopefully this time it will stick!).
