DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

    alex
    Phil Groat
    Northern Chapter

I graduated from Montgomery High in Santa Rosa, California and continued my education at Golden Gate University where I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice.

My law enforcement career began in 1967 as a patrolman with the Larkspur Police Department. In 1969 I left Larkspur and began a 30-year career with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department as a Patrol Deputy. During this time with SCSD I served in a variety of capacities. After being promoted to Sergeant I worked assignments in patrol, narcotics, vice and SWAT. As a Lieutenant, I had positions in administration, personnel, internal affairs and the jail. After my promotion to Captain, I oversaw the jail and served as an administrative Captain before my retirement in 1999.

I currently reside in Marin County, CA and have been a member of RPOAC since 1999.
